Leak Reveals Release Date For ‘Black Mirror’ Season 5

Ever since fans binge-watched season four of Charlie Brooker's Black Mirror in December of last year, we've been eagerly lapping up any bit of news we can find about the upcoming fifth installment.

Thanks to a new leak, it looks like we won't have all that long to wait until the return of the dystopian drama.

According to a now-deleted tweet from an official account, the show will be returning on 28 December and the first episode will be called 'Bandersnatch'.

While this could turn out to be false, it would certainly fit in line with the previous season of the show. And to add weight to the leak, a picture of a door sign reading 'Bandersnatch' from the set of Black Mirror made its way to the Internet back in April.

So while we don't want to get anyone's hopes up just yet, our's included, it's looking like a safe bet that we'll get to journey once more into Brooker's disturbingly insightful universe.

If this turns out to be true, someone over at the Netflix social media page will surely be getting a call into the office for the mistake. Especially since the streaming giant has been keeping its cards close to its chest with regards to the details of season five.

What we do know is that at least one episode will take us back to the 80s again, like in previous episode 'San Junipero'. This time round we're being transported to the UK, with photos posted by locals back in April revealing that the streets of Croydon were fitted with retro shop signs to help set the scene. There was even an old school Wimpy to complete the throwback setting.

And if that weren't enough, apparently Netflix is thinking of introducing choose-your-own-adventure programming to allow audiences to pick the storyline of their favourite series or film, including one episode of the upcoming series of Black Mirror, according to Bloomberg.

There's a sort of sweet irony toBlack Mirror being chosen as one of the first of Netflix's experiments with live-action interactive programming, particularly since the show is famous for exploring the social implications of technology.

Either way, we can't wait to see it for ourselves. And thankfully it was never introduced in season one - we can only imagine what it would do for our mental wellbeing having to decide whether or not the PM had to fuck a pig.
