Anyone who binge-watched Making a Murderer will know there were many questions left unanswered at the end of the series.

Is Stephen Avery innocent? Did the police plant evidence? Was Brendan Massey involved? Well, it looks like we might be getting some answers because filmmakers are looking to return for a second run of episodes.

Speaking at the Stranger Than Fiction panel in New York, co-director Laura Ricciardi said: "From our perspective this story is obviously not over.

"It's real life and (Avery's and Brendan Dassey's) cases are both still pending.

"We have no idea when the magistrate will make a decision in Brendan's case. We do know that two potential outcomes are that the judge could order Brendan's release or he could order a new trial. So we are on the edge of seats about that.

"To the extent that there are significant developments, we would like to continue documenting this (case)."

The Independent also reported that Avery now has a new lawyer, Kathleen Zellner, and it is her duty to find new evidence to defend her client. She said recently that new forensic evidence should prove he is not guilty of murder.
