Eminem has achieved quite a lot in his time in the spotlight, and he's looking to add to his list of accolades by producing a rap battle comedy film.

The rapper has produced before, such as documentaries and music videos, but his very first involvement in movies came with his starring role in the semi-autobiographical film 8 Mile.

The movie focused on Em's rise from 'trailer park trash' to making moves on the underground rap battle scene - and now he's back to explore the topic in greater depth with Bodied, which takes a satirical look at battling.

He's teamed up with director Joseph Kahn to create the film, written by battle champion Kid Twist, which will be shown at the Toronto Film Festival next month.

According to HipHopDX, the film will explore race relations in music, and will feature rappers Dizaster, Dumbfounded, Loaded Lux, and Hollow Da Don.

Anthony Michael Hall, Charlamagne Tha God, Callum Worthy, Debra Wilson, and Rory Uphold are also set to appear.

In fact, it seems to be good news all around for Slim Shady fans - not only is Eminem returning to the movie scene, but it seems he's also working on a brand new album (his ninth, to be exact). Even better, he's reportedly doing so with the help of long-term producer and hip-hop legend Dr Dre.

Complex reports that Allen Hughes, the director of The Defiant Ones, a documentary about Dr Dre and Jimmy Lovine, let something slip which could potentially mean Em's next album isn't too far away.

Prior to the premiere for The Defiant Ones, Hughes spoke highly of Dre and his work in music, telling Uproxx: "People don't know this: Dre records every day. Literally, he's in there recording songs every day.

"He's like Picasso in that way. He's always painting. Right now he's producing, in the 11th hour, a track for Eminem's latest album.

"So Dre's still real active in music, you know? But I hear what you're saying. It's the truth."

This could really mean nothing in the grand scheme of things if it wasn't for one small detail. He says 'in the 11th hour'.

Now, he could be using the phrase for dramatic effect, or it could mean that Dre is hectically producing additional stuff for Eminem as there's a planned release not too far in the future.

Who knows, but it's good to build anticipation, isn't it?

There's yet to be any formal announcement from Eminem, Aftermath, Interscope or Shady Records regarding the album, so take everything you hear with a pinch of salt.
