After two years of silence, Netflix has finally thrown us a bone and told us when we can expect the third instalment to the critically acclaimed series The Crown.

We can expect the show, now starring Oscar winner Olivia Coleman as Queen Elizabeth, on November 17.

The streaming service released a 21 second teaser for the upcoming season and it looks like they've absolutely nailed it with the casting.

Claire Foy was fantastic as the young Queen and getting Coleman in for the next phase looks fantastic.

In addition to Coleman, Tobias Menzies will play Prince Philip, Helena Bonham Carter has been cast as Princess Margaret, Ben Daniels will play Antony Armstrong-Jones aka Lord Snowdon, Jason Watkins will play Prime Minister Harold Wilson, Erin Doherty will play Princess Anne, Josh O'Connor will play Prince Charles, Marion Bailey will play the Queen Mother, Emerald Fennell will play Camilla Shand aka the Duchess of Cornwall, Gillian Anderon is Margaret Thatcher and Emma Corrin will play Princess Diana.

Pretty stellar cast if you ask us.

Coleman told Radio Times about when she found out she was being considered for the role.

"I got a phone call from my agent when I was in a car [telling her that she had been asked to meet with director Peter Morgan]," she said.

"I think I had fairly recently finished watching the first series, which I think I had done in about three nights - and so I was very excited. My agent was trying to be subtle, not knowing who was in the car with me and she went, 'It's something about a tiara', and I went, 'Oh, it's The Crown!"

There will be a lot of expectation coming from this season considering the last two were so highly revered.

It will also be interesting to see how fans take to the new characters as the previous ones left pretty big shoes to fill.

It seems like we won't have to wait too long before we feast our eyes on the fourth season either as filming begins this month. Considering filming finished for season three in February this year, we could be treated to the fourth instalment around May next year.

One can only hope but we'll have to wait for Netflix to give us the official word.
