So excited for this already.

Netflix smash Stranger Things has stuck to its theme by signing an actual Goonie for the next series.

According to Entertainment Weekly, Sean Astin, who played Mikey in the 1980s classic, has been confirmed, as has Paul Reiser, who stared in Alien and the sequel, Aliens.

Sean is believed to be playing a former nerd and classmate of Joyce - Winona Ryder - who now manages the local RadioShack. An important man to know.

Meanwhile, Paul is rumoured to play a 'high-ranking member within the Department of Energy' who is given the job of cleaning up the mess of last year. A role as a villain would suit this guy, I reckon, given that he played bad-guy Carter Burke in Alien.

Seems like as good a time as any to watch Dustin and Lucas have a thumb war.

It's still very early on, so we'll have to wait a bit longer for plot details to be released but production is under way and I'm very excited.

The Duffer brothers have also confirmed newcomer Linnea Berthelsen, who is set to play Roman, a mysterious young woman with her own links to the lab from which Eleven escaped. According to the statement from Netflix, Roman is 'emotionally damaged, magnetic' and 'suffered a great loss as a child'. So, a lot like Eleven, then?
