Does anyone actually trust the rating systems on Netflix? I've found it difficult to trust ever since I saw the stupidly low score Nicolas Cage's classic Vampire's Kiss got, to be honest.
If you do pay attention to it then you'll know that Netflix currently uses a star-rating system, but if the idea of a score out of five is too complex for you, then you'll be pleased to know the company is simplifying it.
The rating system is being overhauled, according to The Verge, and it will be replaced with a Gladiator-style thumbs up or thumbs down.
Netflix vice president of product Todd Yellin announced the change on Thursday. He told the press conference that the newer system would see a 200 percent increase in ratings, so would give more accurate and representative scores. Finally Vampire's Kiss might get a fucking break.
He also added that using a simple thumbs up or thumbs down will give a better idea of the kinds of films and shows a user enjoys.
He said: "What's more powerful: you telling me you would give five stars to the documentary about unrest in the Ukraine; that you'd give three stars to the latest Adam Sandler movie; or that you'd watch the Adam Sandler movie 10 times more frequently?"
The new system will begin rolling out in April.

If you're a Netflix subscriber - or your ex has forgot to remove you from the account yet - there's a tonne of 'secret' films you previously may not have been able to access. You're currently missing out on some top titles from the 'Faith & Spirituality Movies' selection and the 'Controversial Foreign Movies' list. Jesus, how have we been living?
Uproxx reported that in order to activate the codes, you have to edit a URL that looks like this: www.netflix.com/browse/genre/. After the final slash, you simply enter the code to the genre you wish you unlock.
