Netflix is soon going to allow its users to download and watch their favourite shows and movies offline.

Currently the streaming service requires users to have an internet connection to watch shows, whilst rivals like Amazon Prime Video and BBC iPlayer allow you to download content to view offline.

The feature is the most requested feature but the US tech company has so far refused to comply. CEO Reed Hastings has previously said offline viewing will never be a possibility, but rival services have likely forced his hand and offline video could be available by the end of 2016.

A company called Taitz is currently working alongside Netflix to make downloadable content a possibility.

Netflix currently has 81 million paying users and has launched in 130 new countries around the world since January 2016.
