It's not even Halloween yet, but like those folk who put up their Xmas decorations way too early, Netflix is gearing up for the festive season with the announcement of a brand spanking new Christmas film.
Titled The Christmas Chronicles, the movie is set to feature none other than Kurt Russell as Santa Claus. And while the thought of Mr. Nobody as the dude in the red hat might awaken the Scrooge inside of all of us, you'll likely be pleased to know that Home Alone producer Chris Columbus is on board - so you know it's going to be Christmassy AF.

The Christmas Chronicles aims to be the next big original festive film, telling the story of a brother/sister duo (Derby Camp and Judah Lewis) whose mission to catch Father Christmas on camera turns into an unexpected journey that most kids could only dream about.
Chris, who's also behind Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone, said: "Kurt is the definitive Santa Claus. Charismatic, tough when needed, with a wicked sense of humour. We're really excited for audiences to see his performance onscreen and hope The Christmas Chronicles becomes a timeless classic."

Director Clay Kaytis added: "No one is better suited than Kurt Russell to bring our version of a rugged, charismatic, and hilarious Santa Claus to life.
"From our first meeting, he completely threw himself into this iconic role - and grew an impressive beard in the process. It has been a dream come true to work with Kurt in creating what I believe will be the new definition of Santa Claus for generations to come."
Big words from Clay right there - fingers crossed it lives up to the hype. With that in mind, if the film has even half the genius and flare of Home Alone, it's pretty much guaranteed to be a festive hit.

Of course, you might be reading this and shouting at your screen about Christmas movies in October, when there's still more than two months to go til the big day. In that case, you might want to look away now - a TV channel entirely dedicated to festive films launched in the UK last month.
The channel - known as 'True Christmas' - is available on Freeview (62), Sky (185) and Virgin (424), with titles such as All I Want For Christmas, Single Santa Seeks Mrs Claus and Beverley Hills Christmas all ready and waiting for you. Sorry Scrooge - the season of goodwill is well on its way...
