There's Going To Be A 'Logan' Spin-Off About X-23

X-Men fans are in for a treat, because a Logan spin-off centring on Laura - or X-23 - is in the works, according to director James Mangold.

Actress Dafne Keen looks like she will be reprising her role for the movie, after the actress, who was only 11 during filming, wowed audiences as Laura.

Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter, Mangold referred to Patty Jenkin's Wonder Woman as a shining example of a superhero movie with a female lead.

He said: "Patty's success with that film only solidifies more for studios that there's less to fear with a female protagonist. The more that keeps getting hit home, that ends up giving me more space turning around and going, 'Well, here we are with a female protagonist. That's incredible. And what are we going to do with her?' And that's where we are with that [the Laura script] right now, dreaming."

Logan's brutal and bloody tone, was a change from the more family-friendly X-Men movies of the past, and one that won the praise from critics and audiences. However, producer Hutch Parker told The Hollywood Reporter that the Laura movie wouldn't necessarily follow suit.

He said: "It may not be in the same exact tonality or with the same genre orientations as Logan, but I think part of what has been opened up in this universe to all of us now is, drawing on different genre traditions, there are new pathways to be opened for new characters that populate this universe."

Anyone else think that sounds like Parker has plans for a bunch of new spin-offs? Or is that wishful thinking?

I really hope Patrick Stewart gets involved this.

Sadly, as Logan was the final chapter for Hugh Jackman's Wolverine, he won't be starring in the spin-off. However he heaped praise on Keen, saying she is 'just phenomenal'; adding that he'd be queuing up to watch the new movie when it's released. Me, too, Hugh.
