If you like Oscar Isaac and Solid Snake from Metal Gear Solid, then good news - Oscar Isaac wants to play Solid Snake from Metal Gear Solid.

The Star Wars actor did not hesitate when asked if he would be interested in appearing in a video game-turned-film adaptation during an interview with his fellow cast members from Netflix's Triple Frontier.

Speaking to IGN, he said: "Metal Gear Solid, that's the one. I'm throwing my hat in for that one."

When asked who he would play, he replied: "Snake, man."

The 39-year-old has previously been liked with the role, and now it's clear he's game for it, there's surely going to be more and more calls for him to get the part.

Indeed, it seems the director of the planned adaptation, Jordan Vogt-Roberts, is one step ahead of Isaac. In a tweet, he revealed he had already had a mock up of Isaac as Solid Snake created, adding that 'the ball's in Oscar's court'.

Vogt-Roberts - who directed Kong: Skull Island - was signed on to direct an adaptation of the game for Sony Pictures, after years and years of adaptation rumours.

Way back in 2006 the creator of the seminal stealth game, Hideo Kojima, said that there would be a movie coming out, and over a decade later we are starting to finally see some movement on that promise.

In an interview with Collider, Vogt-Roberts said it had been 'like a dream' to work with Kojima.

He said: "Metal Gear Solid is probably the most important franchise to me on the planet. It is such a genius, idiosyncratic work and being able to spend time with [Hideo] Kojima recently has been like a dream.

"That is a property that I will fight tooth and nail to make sure is done properly because it's so easy to screw it up and so easy for a studio to try and make it into G.I. Joe or try and make it into Mission: Impossible or try and make it into something that it's not.

"Metal Gear Solid needs to be exactly what it needs to be, which is Metal Gear Solid."

After declaring his interest in the role, Isaac also offered his thoughts on what was needed to make a video game film adaptation work.

Speaking to IGN, he said: "With the video game thing, I think the trick will be how do you replicate the feeling of what it feels like to play a video game. I think where it goes wrong often is with the plots."

It certainly sounds like they're singing from the same hymn sheet anyway, so here's hoping we'll see Isaac as Solid Snake in the not too distant future.
