The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air was a fan favourite across the world, with viewers lapping up Will Smith's antics inside his uncle's mansion.

While there were elements of seriousness in the show, it was largely a light, fun series to sit back and watch.

Well, a production studio has put together a trailer of what Fresh Prince would look like if it was made today and if it was made in a more serious tone. Say goodbye to Carlton doing a hilarious dance because it's about to get dark.

The trailer was produced by Sun Squared Media and has the caption: "What would happen if Will Smith made The Fresh Prince today? Bel-Air, a story of a kid from Philly whose life got turned upside-down... in 2019."

It starts off with an echo of the Fresh Prince theme tune but quickly descends into the lead character, Will, being shipped off to Bel-Air because he was caught by the police with a gun after he was in a fight at a basketball court.

Director and cinematographer Morgan Cooper uploaded the video to social media saying: "Like most 90's kids, I grew up watching Fresh Prince. Even as a kid, I always thought there was more to the story... so I decided to make this. S/O to incredible team who worked on this!"

People have been quick to commend the filmmaker not only on the unique tone of the video but also on the production value.

One viewer wrote: "This is incredible - beautifully shot, well acted, emotional even as a trailer/promo. This is the grownup remake that FP fans would love to see. well done!"

Another added: "Bruhhh...if you don't go secure some funding and make this! The culture needs it.

A third commented: "Hands down it's an incredible watch! Needs to be on screen (big or little) yesterday! Can't wait to see the episode when the guys from Philly come to Bel Air!"

Tons of people were tagging Netflix in the video, hoping the streaming service would see the new look Fresh Prince and pick it up.

While there are tons of people who would never want to see a reboot in their lifetime, this is certainly a different take on the original.

Who knows, we've seen shows been brought back from the dead because of the fans, we might get to see this one get off the ground.
