Having made an exciting debut in the new Captain Marvel film, Carol Danvers turned out not to be the only star of the film. Goose, the adorable feline that follows Carol around on her travels may just have stolen the limelight.

Goose, who is in fact a type of alien called a 'Flerken', resembles an earth cat. Not just any earth cat, potentially the cutest one you've ever seen.

In the original comics, Captain Marvel's pet is called Chewie, because of her love of Star Wars, but producers have changed the name to Goose. It's reported this is a nod to Nick 'Goose' Bradshaw from Top Gun.

And now fans are calling for Goose to have a spin off of its own thanks to the questions about her back story, and obvs also the fact that she's adorable. It's something we can completely get on board with.

Just to warn anyone who's not yet seen Captain Marvel yet - there are SPOILERS ahead, so you might want to look away now.

We start to see the Goose may not just be a standard cat. For example, Samuel L Jackson's character gets scratched in the eye by it and goes blind.

Later in the movie Goose swallows the Tesseract whole and attacks multiple Kree with tentacles from her mouth. Definitely not normal cat behaviour.

In the comics, it's explained that Flerken may look like normal felines, but they're a actually an alien species. They lay eggs, have mouth tentacles and pocket dimensions inside of them that can contain entire universes. Goose stores the Tesseract in hers.

Captain Marvel has been breaking new ground in the Marvel Cinematic Universe thanks to its 90s setting, directors Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck have been given then opportunity to play around with loads of references to give their audience a healthy dose of 90s nostalgia.

Not only does Brie rock a Nine Inch Nails t shirt, some eagle-eyed fans have noticed a selection of nods to Quentin Tarantino's era defining film Pulp Fiction.

One of these shows Talos, played by Ben Mendelsohn, drinking a fast food soda. The Skrull leader's cup closely resembles the moment acted out in Big Kahuna Burger in Pulp Fiction.

Another was pointed out by the same user. Fury and S.H.I.E.L.D. agent Phil Coulson (Clark Gregg) are on a ride wearing matching suits in a shot that looks rather familiar. Looks to me like a clear throwback to the famous 'Royale With Cheese' scene that stars Samuel L. Jackson.
