People Think They Now Know Why Jeremy Renner Wasn’t In ‘Infinity War’

He was one of the original Avengers and his absence was noticed big time

There's no denying that there were plenty of superheroes in Avengers: Infinity War - so much so that is was pretty exhausting keeping up with every character, their backstory and how they related to the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

But there was one obvious exclusion: Hawkeye. As always, don't read on if you don't want potential spoilers.

Hawkeye, played by Jeremy Renner, was a part of the OG Avengers and so people were questioning why he and his magical bow and arrows weren't involved in helping stop Thanos.

Well, Jon Hamm, who isn't in any way, shape or form, connected to the Avengers or the MCU, has revealed that Renner picked up a bit of an injury in another movie called Tag, which is about a group of LADs who spent one month of the year trying to play tag.

Hamm told Ellen DeGeneres: "Jeremy Renner broke both of his arms at the same time. Day three of production. We had 40 more days to go. Keep in mind this is a man who's done 100 Avengers movies and been fine."

He's also been in Mission: Impossible, The Hurt Locker and The Bourne Legacy and managed to come out unscathed.

Variety reports that the actor had specifically fractured his right elbow and left wrist during filming, which are pretty essential parts of the body, especially for a superhero archer.

That's led to some people questioning whether this injury was the reason why he wasn't written into the Avengers film.

Last year, Renner tried to shut down rumours it would limit his inclusion in the epic film, saying: "I'm sort of a problem solver, you know. There will be an effect to it, but it won't stop me from doing things that I need to be doing.

"I'll heal fast. I'm doing everything I can to heal faster."

There could be another reason why he wasn't in the film and it has a lot to do with Captain America: Civil War.

In the previous Avengers films, everyone is happy together, they're a team and they work more or less together. But in Civil War, there's a rift with the superheroes, with Captain America recruiting Scarlet Witch, Hawkeye and Ant-Man, while Iron Man gets a team of Black Panther, Black Widow, War Machine, Spider-Man and Vision.

At the end of the film, Captain America's group gets captured and they get taken to a Raft Prison to answer for their betrayal.

Collider says that deals were offered to the imprisoned team to allow them to be on house arrest rather than locked up and it's believed that Ant-Man and Hawkeye took that option because they have families.

That's maybe why not only was Renner missing from Infinity War but also Paul Rudd's Ant-Man.

Or it was because Jeremy broke his arms.
