Superhero movies have been all the rage these past few years. Not only do fans love them, but it also means big bucks for the movie studios that bring them to life - so it's not hard to see why there are sequels, trilogies and spinoffs being commissioned.

Well, we could soon see a stand alone origins film based around the Quicksilver mutant.

The character has been played Evan Peters in the X-Men franchise (as well as Aaron Taylor-Johnson in the Avengers series) and he says he's very keen to see the project get off the ground.

Speaking to Entertainment Tonight, he said: "I think that would be so fun. I love the special effects and the sequences and I love working with all those guys, so in one second I would do that."

If you're unfamiliar with Quick, aka Pietro Maximoff, he's the guy who can move at supersonic speeds, mentally, physically and physiologically. He can move as fast as Mach 10, which is casually 12,348km/h and he also has an incredibly quick metabolism, meaning he can heal rapidly.

While that's pretty cool, he says his super fast mental processing is both a gift and a curse. While he has the benefit of photographic memory and thinking faster than the speed of thought, it means that he's constantly annoyed at the world moving so slowly.

He said in the comic books: "Have you ever had a day where you are at the ATM and you are in a hurry because you're running late but the person in front of you doesn't know how to use the ATM and they're taking forever? Now imagine what it must be like to spend every day surrounded by people who don't know how to use the ATM."

Quicksilver is the son of Magneto and has a sister called Scarlett Witch - who we also see in the Avengers franchise.

There have been bits of information about Quicksilver revealed in the X-Men series and Marvel Cinematic Universe, but nothing concrete enough to really give much backstory (which is not hard to understand considering there are so many superheroes jostling for attention in both franchises).

Quicksilver has a very colourful past and he goes through a lot of transformations in regards to his powers. At one point, his sister takes them away but then he gains even better abilities after coming into contact with Terrigen Mist - allowing him to jump into the future.

The movie studio at the helm of Peters' Quicksilver, 20th Century Fox, hasn't released any information on a potential spinoff but at least they know they've got support from Evan.
