Anthony Kiedis is a veteran of his trade after having fronted the Red Hot Chili Peppers for 33 years.

The band are the headline act for Reading and Leeds Festival this weekend, but before taking to the stage at Reading, Anthony took some time out to praise a veteran of another trade, James Corden.

The Red Hot Chili Peppers front man recently appeared with the rest of the band on Corden's hit segment on The Late Late Show, Carpool Karaoke, and he loved it as much as we loved watching it.

"James has got the making of being a true artist," the 53-year-old said backstage at Reading Festival. "He started off as a musical artist before he became a comic, actor, talk show dude.

"He sings beautifully and the look on his face when music happens - he's raptured with passion about melody and lyrics. He's the real deal."

Despite Corden only going over to America back in 2015, Anthony was already a fan of the Essex lad after watching Gavin & Stacey.

He said: "I got turned onto him years before he ever came to America with Gavin & Stacey. I was a Gavin & Stacey guy. I watched it on the Internet.

"I like those characters in that show, and I like The Wrong Mans. Those two things I had seen and then he came to the US and had a lovely way of making people feel comfortable."

After being asked whether or not he'd ever take up an acting role, or a cameo alongside Corden, Kiedis said revealed that he's better off just watching.

"Acting is best left to actors - people who really studied that art form because there's so much bad acting in the worl," the rocker said. "I don't just want to throw my hat into that pile."

The indestructible band will be returning to the UK later this year when they embark on their tour.
