Classic Robin Williams Movie 'Mrs Doubtfire' Premiered 25 Years Ago Today

A quarter of a century later, those cute kids from the iconic film are all grown up

Twenty-five years ago, the late Robin Williams put on a frock and a wig to portray one of his most amazing and memorable characters, Mrs Doubtfire.

I know, right? Twenty-five years. I had to check too. Although Williams was tragically lost to the world after taking his own life in 2014, the remaining cast members still got together in October to celebrate the film's 25th anniversary.

But while it was certainly one of the most memorable performances by Williams, as far as an entire generation is concerned, the movie also featured three talented youngsters - not to mention Pierce Brosnan, ahead of his stint as 007 and long before he shared his unique singing abilities in Mamma Mia.

The reunion saw the trio of on-screen siblings snapped alongside Brosnan, but with a massive difference - those cute kids are now all grown up, of course. The ravages of time! No one is safe!

Matthew Lawrence (who played Chris Hillard) is now 38, Mara Wilson (who played Natalie Hillard) is now 31, and Lisa Jakub (who played Lydia Hillard) is now 39.

With 65-year-old Brosnan completing the reunion, some sweet pictures and a video soon appeared online. However, it wasn't just the much-missed Williams who was absent - Sally Field, who played the kids' mother, Miranda Hillard, was another notable miss.

Still, nice to see the four pictured here back together. Yes, that's right, this type of nostalgia = all the feels.

The film followed the story of Daniel Hillard (Williams) and Miranda as they go through a messy divorce. Daniel struggles to keep a job while maintaining a relationship with his kids, so he comes up with a plan to spend more time with them - he'd be the children's nanny.

And of course, he isn't just any old nanny. With a bit of help, he transforms into the hilarious Mrs Doubtfire, and along with getting to spend time with the kids, he also finds time to wind up his ex-wife's new man Stu (played by Brosnan).

These stars of the 90s have come a long way since bursting into fits of laughter on set with Williams - Mara Wilson carried on acting throughout the decade, starring in the films Matilda and Miracle on 34th Street, but she stepped away from the silver screen and now she's happy as a writer, working on TV shows and for online magazines.

Lisa Jakub went on to star in Independence Day, but retired from acting back in 2001 when she was 22. Now she's an author, with two books under her belt, as well as being a public speaker and a trained yoga teacher.

Matthew Lawrence was fairly a household name back in the day, starring with his brothers is the sitcom Brotherly Love then taking a starring role in the popular series Boy Meets World. In 2015 he reprised his role as Jack Hunter in the Boy Meets World spin-off series Girl Meets World. More recently the former child star started a band called Still Three with his brothers Joey and Andy - their debut single 'Losing Myself' was released last year.

It's crazy to think those three kids are now all grown up and living completely different lives. As for Pierce Brosnan... well, he's starred in Mamma Mia and its sequel, but even with those credits to his name, I don't think he'll be lending his vocals to Lawrence's band any time soon.
