Hype for the as-yet-untitled fourth Avengers film continues to mount, and while we're still sat around waiting for that plot synopsis or trailer to drop, all we can really do it speculate about what we'll be getting.

That includes mulling over all those questions Avengers: Infinity War left us (consider this your ***spoiler alert*** if you've somehow not seen the third flick yet) after the credits rolled - including whether or not Loki actually died.

Well, the Russo brothers, who directed the third and fourth films, decided to settle that one at a Q&A after a screening of this year's Infinity War on Wednesday night.

Slash Film's Peter Sciretta was there live-tweeting their answers:

Some fans on Twitter tried to rustle up theories as to why he's not really dead and he was using magic again - saying 'Never trust Russos' - but it sounds pretty damn definitive to me.

Mind you, it's not too concerning as we did very recently learn we'd be getting a brand new TV series dedicated to Loki on Disney Streaming Service. So it's not all doom and gloom! Well, it probably will be, but that's the idea.

Meanwhile, Captain America's fate is also up in the air after actor Chris Evans caused a stir when he posted a tweet that looked suspiciously like his farewell to the character.

Celebrating the fourth Avengers film wrapping and thanking his fans for the 'memories', he wrote that it had been an 'emotional day':

However, Joseph Russo said to USA Today that this may not be the last time Evans and Captain America will be connected.

"I think it was more emotional for him than it was us because he's not done yet," he said.

"I won't explain what that means but fans will soon understand what I'm talking about."

Hmmm. Interesting.

But wait, hold on... Stop trying to distract us, you pesky Russo bros! Just give us that damn Avengers 4 trailer, for goodness' sake.
