There is absolutely no doubt about it - Gavin & Stacey making a come back for the Christmas Special is the best thing we've heard since Smithy (James Corden) and Rudi (Sheridan Smith) seamlessly rapped along to 'American Boy'. Brrrrap.

As filming begun for the show, the cast returned once more to Barry Island in Wales and fans flocked to see them all back together in the flesh. But this came as something a little problematic, meaning that co-writer Ruth Jones - who plays Nessa - was forced to lay down the law in true Nessa style. Here's the video to prove it:

Still in character, Jones, 52, addressed fans with her infamous line: "What's occurrin'?" And the crowd went wild. This was not the plan...

She went on to say: "Listen, right, I'm going ask you a favour and I'll give you something back in return. I need you to shut up, alright, while we're filming.

"Quite frankly, you're making a lot of noise and you're ruining it for everyone. Alright. If you stay quiet during the filming I will come out and let you have photos. If you don't, I won't. Simple as. The choice is yours - what d'ya wanna do?"

One eager beaver, responded: "Stay quiet." That is the right answer, my friend.

Speaking to LADbible, Keira Vella, 23, said: "Barry Island was packed with fans of the show waiting to see the filming taking place. Unfortunately, due to the high numbers of people, this made it difficult for the filming to happen."

As Keira had a pram with her she had to leave because it was 'pretty crazy' but she said she knows that Jones did come back out and pose for pictures with fans of the show.

The BAFTA-winning sitcom that tells the story of a young couple - a man from Essex and a woman from South Wales - last graced screens in the UK back in 2010.

It is now due to return over the festive period for a one-off special. The decision to bring the show back was announced in May by co-writers Ruth Jones and James Corden.

Earlier this month crowds gathered to watch filming.

When it was announced, a press release from the pair read: "Over the last ten years we've talked a lot about Gavin and Stacey - where they might be today and what their lives might look like.

"And so in secret we took the plunge and wrote this one-hour special. We've loved revisiting Barry and Essex again and bringing the characters back together has been a joy.

"We're so excited to get the chance to work with our fabulous cast and crew once more and to give fans of the show a festive treat this Christmas. Thank you BBC for helping to make this happen."

Cast members were quick to express their delight at the return of the show. Larry Lamb - who plays Mick Shipman - tweeted: "So it's official...G&S rides again ..

"We're doing a 2019 Christmas special ....a treat for the millions of you who've waited so patiently... love to you all ..and Happy Christmas!!!!"
