Ryan Reynolds Recalls Strange Encounter With Fan

Ryan Reynolds Recalls Strange Encounter With Fan

We've all been starstruck, but there's a time and place

It's fair to presume that much-loved actor Ryan Reynolds has had his fair share of awkward encounters with overzealous fans, but it's hard to imagine many could top this.

Ryan plays Wade Wilson, the foul-mouthed lead in Marvel's Deadpool movies, and it seems that certain fans of the franchise are unable to control themselves whenever they spot him.

Even in the most extreme of circumstance, some fans get over-excited. Take the man who spotted 41-year-old Ryan on board a flight, for example, and asked to high-five him - even though the man's wife was in the process of being stretchered off the plane at the time.

The Canadian recalled the incident on The Graham Norton Show, which is set to air this Friday night, saying: "I was on a plane with a honeymooning couple and the bride became very ill - not just throwing up ill, but really painting with her internal organs."

Ugh. Nicely phrased.

Ryan continued: "She was taken off the plane on a stretcher it was so bad. As her new husband followed her out, he spotted me and shouted, 'Deadpool. High five!'

"It was a surreal moment - firstly, I didn't want to high five him just in case he was infected and secondly, he seemed to have no concern for his dying wife!"

Admittedly, everyone's inclined to act slightly starstruck whenever they spot a celeb - but surely, other more important matters - such as attending to your sick wife - should take precedence over greeting your favourite on-screen hero. Dunno, maybe I'm in the minority on this one.

The Hitman's Bodyguard star was on Norton's show to promote the much-anticipated Deadpool 2. He excitedly told the audience: 'It's bolder and nuttier than the first. We've pushed things further. It's supercharged and we are pumped up about it."

On the sofa with Ryan were David Beckham - who recently was seen in a brilliant and equally hilarious video with Reynolds - The Crown star Vanessa Kirby, singer Joan Armatrading and Josh Brolin, who co-stars on Deadpool 2 as mutant solider, Cable.

Josh said of his time working with Ryan in the up-coming film: "I wrote him an email telling him what a good time I am having and how much I enjoy working with him."

Which is almost as nice as what Ryan posted on Twitter about his co-star back in February:

The film is set for a UK release on 16 May, and though reviews of the film are currently embargoed, the general consensus from critics on social media has been positive.

Like it was ever in doubt.
