When Shia LaBeouf isn't letting people verbally abuse him, watching his movies back-to-back or getting sexually assaulted in a museum, he's busy reminding us that he's a very decent actor.

This trailer for his new movie Man Down looks like an exceptional war epic, with poignant scenes showing how conflict can have a profound effect on an individual, as well as depicting the consequences when the tables are turned.

Here's the official trailer.

LaBeouf plays Gabriel Drummer, a former U.S. marine. When he returns home from Afghanistan, he finds out that his once peaceful suburban home resembles the war zone he's trying to forget in a post-apocalyptic look at how life would look for those in the West if something similar happened at their hometowns. America has effectively been destroyed and LaBeouf's character tries to put the pieces together of what exactly has happened.

He's lost his wife, Natalie, played by Kate Mara, and his son Jonathan (Charlie Shotwell) and is trying to find them. He gets help from his friend and fellow marine Devin Roberts, played by Jai Courtney, as they go on a mission to search for them and rebuild the life he's lost.

The movie also stars compelling British actor Gary Oldman and is directed by Dito Montiel, known for working on Empire State and Fighting, as well as collaborating with LaBeouf in A Guide To Recognizing Your Saints.

The film is coming out on December 2 in the US and UAE, though no official release date for the UK has been confirmed yet.
