Simon Cowell Praises Dec's Solo Presenting Skills On 'Britain's Got Talent'

Six months ago we could barely tell them apart, never mind pick a favourite, and now Dec's won us over.

Since his best mate Ant McPartlin was arrested for drink-driving (quite severely over the limit, too), Dec's been filling in their usual TV gigs on his own.

That's meant presenting Saturday Night Takeaway and Britain's Got Talent solo, and he's smashed it.

From kissing random women on his way through the audience to doing kicks higher than a 42-year-old maybe should, he's been a trooper, to the point that he's even won praise from the ever-unhappy Simon Cowell.

The judge and producer, who usually seems to take pleasure from being a prize bellend, took the time at the end of the show to publicly praise Dec's work.

"To you, Dec, you have done an outstanding job this week. Seriously, thank you," Cowell said.

At which point we all assumed Cowell had either been replaced by a very lifelike robot, or been throwing back a few tequilas behind his judge's desk.

Last night's live final saw comedian Lost Voice Guy crowned with the top prize. He's the first comedian to ever win the talent show, performing his routine through an iPad after Cerebral Palsy caused him to lose his voice at a young age.

Upon winning, Lee Ridley joked, "I am very excited to perform for the Queen. I have loved her since she sang 'Bohemian Rhapsody'."

Still, the judges seemed way more eager to give Dec a cuddle than Lee - they know who the real winner is here.

Dec's musical number that opened one of the semi-finals - where a gaggle of stunning showgirls followed his every move - was such a success that he pulled out another routine last night.

This time, he really moved it up a gear. Handstands and everything.

Roping in all of the finalists, he performed a routine to The Pointer Sisters' 'I'm So Excited', finishing off with a massive can-can line across the stage.

Meanwhile, Dec's absent TV partner Ant was slapped with an £86k fine and a 20-month driving ban back in April. It's unclear when he'll return to his presenting work, but fans are hoping they'll be reunited in time for the new series of I'm a Celebrity, Get Me Out Of Here.

Seeing as Ant's been looking pretty glum whenever out in public lately (rightly so), it'll be interesting to see what goes down when the pair get back together.
