Simon Presses The 'Britain's Got Talent' Golden Buzzer For Dad And Son

The duo broke everyone's hearts and will go straight to the live shows.

Simon Cowell was impressed enough by a father and son singing duo on this evening's Britain's Got Talent that he was moved to press the golden buzzer.

The golden buzzer sits in the middle of the judges and immediately sends whoever it is pressed for through to the live shows and means that they don't have to endure the judges vote.

This time the recipients of the honour were father and son duo Jack and Tim Goodacre from Norwich.

12-year-old Jack has been singing with his dad since he was 5 and they blew the audience away with a heartfelt country song called 'The Lucky Ones'.

Admittedly, when asked who his favourite judge was he said Simon - because he likes his insults - so that might have swayed the famously judgemental judge's opinion.

The song they sang was one that they have written together about how lucky they are to have each other and their family. There can't have been many dry eyes in the house after they had finished belting out the song and playing their acoustic guitars.

Simon admitted ahead of the show (without naming the pair) that his own son had been in his thoughts when he decided to press the button.

In an interview with Radio Times he said: "There was this kid and I was thinking, 'God, that literally could be Eric'. It wouldn't be me as the dad, but it could be Eric.

"There was something about this boy, he sang with his dad and I thought the song they wrote was really cool."

He also said that he could see Ant and Dec deciding whether or not they would press the button, but he wanted the opportunity.

He continued: "I caught a glimpse of Ant and Dec ready to run down and push the golden buzzer, and I thought, 'No way! This one is mine! You have to watch this act, I think they are really great people, it's unusual to see a dad and his son, but it worked."

Of his own son, and the effect it has had on him, he said: "People have asked me if I have changed since I have had Eric and of course you do, you can't help it," he explained.

"In a very positive way you start, particularly now he's four, looking at the world through his eyes as well, which is fun because we get to watch great movies together!"

Either way, both the judges and the fans went wild, and Tim and Jack will be heading on to the live shows next month. They've got a good chance of winning it too, you'd think.
