Game of Thrones actress Sophie Turner has said she will not work in American states which have strict abortion laws.

The 23-year-old confirmed she was the latest in a long line of celebrities who have signed a letter boycotting work in states which have passed laws to limit terminations.

Georgia is the third largest state for film production in the US and became the fourth - along with Missouri, Ohio and Alabama - to have passed the so-called 'heartbeat law' which states women should not be allowed to have an abortion as soon as a foetal heartbeat can be heard - usually at six weeks.

If a doctor defies the rules and performs the procedure, they can face a prison sentence of up to 10 years.

Speaking to Sky News, Turner said: "I signed it too. I have yet to tell my agents I signed it.

"They're going to be like: 'What? You can't work in these states?' Yeah I can't work in these states."

The interviewer went on to point out that much of GOT - the show that catapulted the Brit to fame - was in fact shot in Northern Ireland, where it is illegal to terminate a pregnancy.

Responding to this lien of questioning, Turner said: "There was a lot of work of Game Of Thrones there, so luckily we're moving on."

In March, 50 actors signed the letter boycotting film and television production in Georgia over its strict abortion laws.

Among those who have signed it are; Alec Baldwin, Amy Schumer, , Minnie Driver, Sean Penn, Alyssa Milano and Michael Sheen.

Turner said she is glad to have moved on from Northern Ireland.

The letter says: "We cannot in good conscience continue to recommend our industry remain in Georgia. We want to stay in Georgia, but we will not do so silently, and we will do everything in our power to move our industry to a safer state for women if (this) becomes law."

Earlier this month, actor Jason Bateman also came out and confirmed that he too would not work in Georgia if the bill was passed.

Speaking to the The Hollywood Reporter, he said: "If the 'heartbeat bill' makes it through the court system, I will not work in Georgia, or any other state, that is so disgracefully at odds with women's rights."

Emily Ratajkowski is another who used her huge social media following to post a passionate protest against the abortion ban in Alabama.
