"Dude, it grows back," actress Millie Bobby Brown told her parents when she was asked to shave off all of her hair to play the role of Eleven in the hit Netflix drama Stranger Things.

The 12-year-old recently admitted that her parents were initially annoyed at the idea and needed some persuading.

"I had very long hair and I cut it all off for the part," she told Vulture when she sat down for an exclusive interview. "I convinced them [my parents]. I was like, 'Dude, it grows back. It's fine'."

In her new role in the latest in Netflix's original offerings, Brown plays a mysterious character who has the power of telepathy. In the eight, gripping, 50-minute episodes, viewers find out why children in the neighbourhood are going missing and it's not long before Brown's character starts raising eyebrows.

The chatty actress went on to discuss her passion for scary films as well as her adoration for all things '80s. "I'm obsessed with it," she said. "I love the hair and the people."

It's kind of cool to see such a young actress deliver a performance that many adult actors could only hope to achieve in their entire careers.

That, and she clearly has a rad personality. I expect big things and suspect that for Brown this is just the start of her career. Hopefully she will lead by example to prove that some young actors and actresses don't grow up to be disappointments. I'm rooting for you, Brown!
