Telly show Game of Thrones, with its dragons, sexy sex, political machinations, vast murder and that annoying character from Season One no one remembers has been announced as the most 'binge-watched' show of ALL TIME.
The word 'binge-watching' became Collins English Dictionary's word of the year in 2015, suggesting that the time scale for the survey might not be very long, but don't worry about that.
Anyway, the HBO show, shot in Northern Ireland and Croatia, among others, has been announced as the most binge-watched of any series, and it's easy to see why given how it manages to throw out cliffhangers like confetti.
Samsung surveyed 2,000 people in the UK about which shows they'd binge-watched the most, with Game of Thrones taking 19 percent of the vote. The top 10 were:
- Game Of Thrones
- Breaking Bad
- Downton Abbey
- The Walking Dead
- The Sopranos
- 24
- Sex and the City
- Other [never heard of it...]
- Lost
- The Wire
With the advent of streaming services, peoples' viewing patterns have changed seismically since the turn of the millennium.
Back in the day, if you wanted to binge-watch a show, you had to find the producer, tie them up in a parking lot (or car park) and demand that they show you every episode back to back in their private villa or at least give you a DVD before it was released to the world at large.
Now, you can quite literally snuggle up on the sofa and piss away a whole evening or day with constant streaming.
Happy streaming, LADs. Just remember to eat, sleep and do all the other stuff while you binge away.
