Yesterday viewers were left a tad stunned when Mark 'The Beast' Labbett lost on The Chase to three contestants before storming off and smashing the set up a bit, with each of them claiming £20k. 50,000 of those bad boys came courtesy of Michael who makes gazebos, while the other two took the medium offer.
Posing a formidable score of 22, The Beast (the best of all the chasers, let's be honest), couldn't catch them and fell five short of the target they set.
And in what looked like the most scripted TV scene ever, he gave them a perfunctory congratulations and slapped the wall of the set, making a clang.

With so many thinking it was all for TV, Mark has responded and said it was actual anger and disappointment at not being able to catch them.
He told Metro: "The team had done fantastically well... So you really want to win those big games and to do so you need to answer fast. With time running out I tumbled over an answer and said "Eddie Eagles Edwards" which was originally accepted and moved onto the next question.
"The game was then stopped and that answer was disallowed. With the ensuing pushback it was all over."

I remember watching it and, to be fair, I thought it was pretty harsh and if it was the challengers answering they would have probably let it slide.
And asked about whether it was all for cameras, he was unequivocal: "Staged? My Arse!"
After stating how well the team played and that they deserved the considerable prize money, he explained that his anger was purely pride related.

So now I'm trying to remember the last time I got so angry that I felt compelled to smack a wall. Oh yeah, Spurs' entire Champions League campaign. That wasn't difficult.
