The Fun House Twins Are Still Having A Whole Lot Of Fun

Melanie and Martina Grant starred as pom-pom waving cheerleaders in the ITV 90s kids' game show and now host private functions.

Pom-pom waving cheerleaders Melanie Bainbridge and Martina Grant will be etched into the memories of many kids growing up in the 90s - no doubt for some as the first women they realised they fancied.

The pair spent over a decade cheering on teams in the ITV kids' game show Fun House, a 'real crazy show' which pitted teams against each other in games involving plenty of gunge, a 'fun kart' Grand Prix and scaling the Fun House itself.

Now the twins are both parents in their mid-40s and holding down normal jobs, making the most of their young adult fame on the side. If there's anything to make a millennial feel really ancient, it's that.

The 46-year-old blondes, who co-presented the show from 1989-1999 alongside host Pat Sharp, were famous for assisting teams while dressed in their identical red and yellow cheerleading outfits, with Melanie always supporting the red team and Martina the yellow team.

In recent years Melanie has worked as a receptionist while Martina has worked as an account manager for a Debenhams in Folkestone, Kent.

"We do occasionally still get recognised in the street," Martina, who is now a mother-of-two, told the Daily Mail.

"My partner is seven years younger than me and he used to watch Fun House - he finds it a bit weird that he used to watch me on TV and now we have children together."

The pair now make a side career out of their Fun House stint, offering themselves out as hostesses for private parties and corporate events via through their website.

They are regularly joined at private events by Pat, who they appeared with a one-off live family version of Fun House for charity last summer.

"'People think it's the first time we've got back together but actually we've been working together all along," Martina told the Mail.

In the late 90s they released an album called A Twin Thing which achieved platinum sales in Japan. The album was released on iTunes and Amazon in 2014. We've had a listen to it and it's better than the Cheeky Girls.

The twins can also be proud of having made a handful of other TV appearances since their 90s heyday, including stints on The Bill and Soccer AM.

In recent years there have been attempts to get Fun House revived as a live event attraction in London in the style of The Crystal Maze, with Melanie and Martina agreeing to act as hosts.

Although the first fundraising attempt failed, no doubt people would be chuffed to see them wave their pom-poms again.
