First Official Full Game Of Thrones Season 8 Trailer Has Dropped

STOP WHAT YOU ARE DOING. THIS IS NOT A DRILL.

Here we go, it's finally here. The Game of Thrones trailer that we've all been waiting for. It's the last season. We won't get the chance to do this again. Feast your eyes on this...

No, this time it's not a Bud Light crossover trailer, it's not a load of characters looking moody walking down a corridor, it's an actual look at what action we can expect from the season.

Well, sort of. It's a moody, building trailer that doesn't actually tell us a great deal that we don't know. Arya is ready to fight, Jon is ready for the fight of his life (and everyone else's) and the dragons are bloody cool.

One interesting piece in the trailer suggests that Jaime Lannister is set to defy his sister's Machiavellian ways and fight alongside everyone taking on the armies of the dead. Could be something to watch for.

Oh, and did we mention that we're in for a hell of a battle? A battle with dragons? Good.

Of course, it's been a long road to this point, with many twists and turns. First off, we were treated to a teaser in the crypts of Winterfell (home to the Stark family) that offered little in the way of plot clues, but that didn't stop people swinging the bat.

Then, during this year's Super Bowl, all of the talk was about whether HBO would decide to drop the trailer (it was a seriously boring game of American Football) during one of the ad breaks.

They didn't. What we got was a 'Dilly Dilly' based Bud Light commercial in which The Mountain crushed a guy's head in - he'll do that - and a load of dragons burned everyone to a crisp - they'll do that - but revealed nothing.

Recently, the people behind the Game of Thrones twitter account have been teasing us. They released a load of pictures with characters from the show and asked everyone to pick their favourite. Oh, and they gave all of the characters their own emoji.

This was a smoke screen for what was to come. It's all over now, though. Today is the day.

Anyway, we've still got a way to go before we'll actually find out who will win the biggest battle in TV history. The final ever season will air in the UK and USA simultaneously on 14 April 2019. Well, it'll be the 15th over here by then.

That's just over a month away.

Will Daenerys reclaim the throne for house Targaryen? Will Jon Snow realise that he is shagging his auntie? Will Cersei Lannister get what is coming to her?

Well, in about a month and a half, we'll have our answer.

The eighth and final season of Game of Thrones will air on 15 April on Sky Atlantic and NOW TV
