The Internet Have A New Favourite For The Next James Bond

The Internet Have A New Favourite For The Next James Bond

What do you think?

It's been pretty clear for some months now that Daniel Craig is fed up of seducing women as James Bond. The Spectre press tour was just a continuous televised event of Craig being miserable as he tried to stay positive about the worst Bond film in quite some time.

It now looks just about certain that he won't play the role again, so that's that.

Now come the endless rumours of who will take on 007 next, with bets currently being suspended on Tom Hiddleston being Craig's successor.

Of course, this has been met with mixed reception, that's natural.

Well, a new contender has thrown her name into the ring. Yes her, it's The X-Files Gillian Anderson. She expressed her interest to play the role via Twitter.

It would certainly make waves if a female was cast in the role, especially as everyone is so convinced that it will be Hiddleston to take over from Craig.

There will of course be some people screaming 'BUT JAMES BOND IS A MAN' or 'THIS IS POLITICAL CORRECTNESS GONE MAD' or some other thinly veiled sexism.

But, realistically, haven't enough white males played James Bond at this point? Yes, James Bond was white in the books, but so what, Game of Thrones stopped abiding by Martin's source material long ago and that hasn't caused an uproar.

Many people think this is a great idea:

The whole thing started as a fan campaign utilising the #NextBond hashtag so there already seems to be some momentum behind it.

It would certainly be a change, will it happen though? Who knows?
