It's official - pun completely intended - the sequel to IT has started filming.

IT: Chapter 2 has been pretty highly anticipated since the smash hit success of the original, adapted from Stephen King's novel, last year.

This time around, James McAvoy is set to play the adult, Bill Denborough, and he reveal that they'd finally got underway making the film on his Instagram page.

Holding a piece of Laughing Cow cheese, obviously pleased to have found his rider, he said: "Day 1 on IT 2. Glad you got the memo guys,"

It looks like the new film will be out in cinemas on September 6th, 2019 and they've got a load of the old guard back involved for this one.

Andy Muschietti returns to direct the follow-up movie, alongside Bill Skarsgård returns as Pennywise the terrifying clown.

Jessica Chastain will play new adult Beverly Marsh, Bill Hader will play Richie Tozier, and Jay Ranscom will play Ben Hansom, James Ransone will take on the role of Eddie Kaspbrak.

That doesn't mean a great deal to anyone now, but it will by the time the release date rolls around, we hope.

The film will centre on action that takes place 27 years after the original when Pennywise the clown returns to torment the members of the 'Losers' Club' once again. Skarsgård revealed in an interview with Den of Geek that they would be starting filming some weeks back.

He said: "We're gearing up for it now, so I'm sort of in the process of getting back into that character of Pennywise,

"I'm sort of in the mindset and we're gearing up for it. I think they start in July. I'm not sure exactly when my start date is, but some time this summer."

Exactly what he is doing to get back into the swing of playing an horrific clown that torments kids is anybody's guess. We don't know and I'm pretty sure that we don't want to know.

He also gave an insight into the kind of thing we can expect from the sequel.

He continued: "We're figuring it out, you know, I have a very good relationship with Andy, not only as a director and actor, but also just as a very close friend,

"So, we're having fun with it and we're figuring out what we're going to bring to the table for part two.

"It's going to be a very different experience this time around, just given the fact that you have all of these incredible, seasoned actors to play against, as opposed to having all the kids.

"So, it's going to be a different experience for sure. But I'm looking forward to it."

So are we, Bill. So are we.
