Halloween and Bonfire night are over, Christmas is still a while off and the weather is absolutely terrible, so you've got every reason to spend the next four or five weekends on your couch, binge watching Netflix and eating takeaway.

Netlfix must know this is how the next few weeks are going to pan out for most of us, before we have to start thinking about Christmas parties, because they've added some amazing new shows to their streaming service.

The latest is The Sinner - if you enjoyed the brutal crime drama Mindhunter, I think you'll probably like this one, too. If you haven't seen Mindhunter yet, please go and do that now. You can thank me later.

The Sinner stars Jessica Biel as Cora, a young mum who suddenly snaps during a family day out at the beach and brutally stabs a man to death.

As Detective Harry Ambrose, played by the legendary Bill Pullman, begins to investigate the violent murder he becomes obsessed with what drove the crime and uncovering the motive for the killing.

Together Cora and Detective Ambrose go on a journey into her hidden life and dredge up secrets from her past.

Rather than follow the usual 'whodunnit' scenario, The Sinner centres on why she did what she did.

I actually put an episode on last night to 'see if it's any good' and was hooked within the first 15 minutes.

It gives a fresh take on the classic murder/detective genre and is getting a load of praise on Twitter - as well as in my house.

Perfect dark drama for dark nights.
