There's A Petition To Save The Punisher After Netflix Cancelled It

Fans of The Punisher aren't giving up hope yet after they dubbed the cancellation 'unjust'

A petition has been launched to save The Punisher after Netflix confirmed it wouldn't be returning for a third season.

Fans of the show are adamant that the series won't end with just two seasons, so much so that the Change.org petition has been set up for people to sign in the hope that Netflix will go back on their decision - God loves a trier, I guess.

In February, Netflix released a statement to LADbible which read: "Marvel's The Punisher will not return for a third season on Netflix. Showrunner Steve Lightfoot, the terrific crew, and exceptional cast including star Jon Bernthal, delivered an acclaimed and compelling series for fans, and we are proud to showcase their work on Netflix for years to come."

So many have asked 'Why end there?' Seems reasonable.

The petition - which was set up two months ago and has over 1,800 signatures - states: "As of 2/18/19 The Punisher has now been officially canceled by Netflix!

"But that doesn't mean there isn't hope! Just as there have been glimmers of hope for the renewals of Daredevil, Luke Cage and Iron Fist, there is still hope that The Punisher will be picked back up in the future.

"We need to let Marvel and Disney hear our voices now and not let Netflix be the one to unjustly cancel all of the Marvel shows on their lineup!"

Jon Bernthal shared a cryptic message on Instagram, which many said sounded like a 'goodbye'.

The petition's creator, 'Heather B', continued: "It's recently been confirmed by Marvel Executive Jeph Loeb that Netflix is entirely responsible for these cancellations and Marvel had no say in the matter.

"Despite stating that they've been happy with the performance of these shows, Netflix has now washed their hands of all of their Marvel titles, subsequently cutting off ties with company.

"However, we, as fans, have the power to come together and make our voices heard! The Punisher has many stories to tell, and it deserves to have them told.

"The heartbreak of the other fallen Netflix/Marvel shows is still resonating within their fanbases. The odds may not be in our favor, but Frank wouldn't give up the fight for anything, and neither will we!"

Strong argument right there.

Voicing their reasons for signing, one fan wrote: "The Punisher is one of the most well-written shows to grace the small screen in a decade or more. This decision is short sighted at best."

Another added: "It's a great series. Also only thing I watch on Netflix. Will be cancelling subscription if show is cancelled."

A third chimed in: "Deep characters, great story, conflicts, action scenes. John Bernthal was a perfect Punisher and I want more."
