Game of Thrones Theory Suggests Varys Could Still Kill Daenerys After Taking Off His Rings

Fans online are theorising that Dany's fate could (literally) be in Varys' hands

With only one episode left of Game of Thrones, fans are scrambling to try and figure out just how HBO's saga is going to end - and some fans online have a cracking theory as to what might happen.

The answer, it seems, could be found in a small detail featured in the penultimate episode of Season 8,"The Bells". And it sounds like things might not fare well for Daenerys.

You might have noticed that Varys removed his rings right before Emilia Clarke's Dragon Queen barbecued him for committing treason. It was an odd move considering he wouldn't exactly be worrying about his jewellery whilst bone deep in flames.

But what if Varys had some sneaky plans for those rings? Fans are theorising that, with the help of his little birds, Varys may be intending to poison Dany. And those rings are the receptacles with which he plans to deliver this fatal blow.

On Twitter, one fan reckoned that 'Varys' poison ring will return'.

Another connected the dots between his bird, Martha and his potential plan off attack against Dany. "I wonder if Varys had poison rings on? And he took them off before Dany fried him because he was leaving them for his little bird to try again?"

Those of you who were paying extra hard attention during "The Bells" (I'm sure you were all studiously keeping notes) may have also picked up on Varys behaviour at the beginning of the episode. Another fan on Twitter reckons the seeds were sewn for her murder early on.

It wouldn't be the first time jewellery was used to poison someone on the show. It's exactly how Joffrey was bumped off by Olenna, who used a poisoned stone from Sansa's necklace during the Purple Wedding.

Regardless of whether this theory comes to fruition or not in the final episode, it seems safe to say that there'll be plenty of people out for her blood in the finale. Poisoned jewellery could be the least of her worries.
