Tom Hardy has revealed that he has been signed up for two more Venom movies.

The British actor plays Eddie Brock and Venom in the new movie, which recently dropped its third trailer and has got fans pretty excited ahead of its October release.

Now, Hardy has announced that he's been snapped up for a multi-movie deal for the Spider-Man spin-off.

Speaking to Total Film Magazine, Hardy said: "I'm open to whatever you want to do with it. We've signed up for three of them. So it's very much an open case.

"We'll see what people's responses are to it. I think it's an awesome character. I love playing both of them. It's an amuse-bouche, and for Sony, it's the Venom-verse launched in isolation, as it were. We all prepped for it to be a standalone universe. So whatever Sony want to attach to it at a later date, it's a fulcrum piece. But let's see what happens when it lands."

Sony/Marvel

The 40-year-old actor has previously revealed that he signed up for the film due to his son's love of the character. Speaking at San Diego Comic Con, he said: "My son came to me with a specific character that he absolutely fell in love with and then I started to take a look at it myself and then, as if by magic, a script appeared on the horizon which was awesome.

"Having done Dark Knight [Rises] with Chris [Christopher Nolan], I'd kind of done my superhero bit in some aspects.

"But when I was presented with the opportunity to play Venom, and that correlated with my son's love for Venom and how cool he was, I got really really excited and decided that I really wanted to do it."

Alongside Hardy, fellow British actor Riz Ahmed stars as Dr Carlton Drake with Michelle Williams taking on the role of Anne Weying.

Unlike Spider-Man, Venom isn't part of Disney's massively successful Marvel Cinematic Universe but is instead one of Sony's Marvel Universe titles - not all of the characters from the comics are licensed by the same film studios, which means the potential for crossover is currently limited.

Despite this, current Spider-Man actor Tom Holland has previously said he would be keen for his character to come face-to-face with the villain, with some fans already speculating that he could make a sneaky cameo appearance in the film.

The movie, which is also tipped to star Woody Harrelson as the maniacal Carnage, hits screens on 5 October.
