People were pretty freaked out when Jordan Peele released his Academy Award winning film Get Out.

Well, it looks like he'll have audiences on the edge of their seats yet again with his reboot of The Twilight Zone.

The trailer shows the series will have a stellar cast with Adam Scott (Parks and Recreation) Kumail Nanjiani (Silicon Valley), John Cho (Harold & Kumar), Tracy Morgan (30 Rock) Steven Yeun (The Walking Dead) and many more.

Following the trailer's release, Scott said on Twitter: "As a kid I would wait all day in anticipation for the Twilight Zone rerun every night at 11p, and had to keep the volume low so I wouldn't get caught staying up so late.

"Mind was blown every time. It's still my favourite show and I can't believe I got to be a part of it."

The TV show has been around for decades, first debuting in the late 50s, before being rebooted in 1985, then again in 2002.

Jordan Peele is the executive producer on the series, so you know he'll bring is creepy, hair-raising talent to the project.

He'll be rehashing some of the same stories as the original, including 'Nightmare at 30,000 Feet' but there will be some new ones added in to bring a more modern take on the classic series.

When the show was announced, Peele said in a statement: "Too many times this year it's felt we were living in a twilight zone.

"And I can't think of a better moment to reintroduce it to modern audiences.

"[Series creator] Rod Serling was an uncompromising visionary who not only shed light on social issues of his time, but prophesied issues of ours.

"I'm honoured to carry on his legacy to a new generation of audiences as the gatekeeper of The Twilight Zone."

The series is synonymous with the small screen as it was legendary when it was first released and subsequent reboots were also well received.

When asked by Variety whether Peele was nervous about taking on such a big project, he said he was terrified.

"Why would I ever jump into the most established, pristine shoes in all of the genre?

"I could rip Twilight Zone off and call it something different and not be compared to Rod Serling. So I stepped away from it. And then several months later I got another call.

"The realisation, for me, was that it was an opportunity to attempt to continue with Serling's mission. If we approach it without ego and sort of bow to Serling, that will hopefully suffice for our fellow Twilight Zone fans, but also bring back a show that I think is needed right now."

The first two episodes will premiere on CBS on April 1.
