But it's unlikely there'll be a literal interpretation

Later this month, Scottish chef Gordon Ramsay will feature in a two-part documentary series for ITV called Gordon Ramsay on Cocaine, in which he delves into the murky business of gak to find out the truth behind the drug.

"I've wanted to understand the 'world' of cocaine ever since I lost one of my chefs at my flagship restaurant in Chelsea and I wanted to learn why it's becoming such an epidemic - not just globally but specifically in the culinary world," Ramsay said.

"I dare anyone to watch this series and not think again about taking cocaine," added the three-time Michelin Star garlanded chef.

It remains to be seen how the famously volatile Ramsay will deal with the head honchos of the cocaine trade, but the series will see him travel to South America, the origin point of most of the cocaine available in Europe and the United States, and Central America, which is ravaged by violence that largely stems from the lucrative trade in narcotics.

Ahead of the documentary, he also admitted he's no stranger to the class A substance.

"I saw cocaine quite early on in my career," he told Digital Spy. "I've been served it. I've been given it.

"I've had my hand shaken and left with little wraps of foil in it. I've been asked to dust cocaine on top of soufflés, to put it on as icing sugar... coke's everywhere. It's spiralling out of control."

He will speak to traffickers and smugglers, law enforcement and, of course, end users in an attempt to get to the root of the cocaine industry.

Cocaine use is known to be rampant in the United Kingdom: Brits do more blow per person than any other nation in Europe and are second only to Americans in a worldwide ranking, while in isolation from the rest of the British Isles, Ramsay's fellow Scots would take the world crown.

Scotland does more gear than anywhere else in the world, with 2.4% of the population reporting to have used the drug in the last year that figures were taken, ahead of the United States and Spain on 2.3%, Australia on 2.1% and the rest of the UK on 1.9% according to the United Nations Office on Drugs & Crime.

Chefs are renowned for their cocaine use, and Ramsay hopes to target his fellow kitchen cavaliers on with the programme.

"The documentary is gritty and shocking, but importantly an eye opener and hopefully a real education to all those in our industry and beyond" he said.

Gordon Ramsay on Cocaine is set to air on 19 October at 9pm on ITV, forming part of the network's Crime & Punishment season, which also features new documentaries from Ross Kemp and Sir Trevor McDonald.
