Pictures Of The Simpsons Facing Forwards Are Absolutely Terrifying

I didn’t think it was physically possible but this both sucks and blows

Ah, The Simpsons - no matter what the problem is, it can be solved by sitting down and watching a couple of episodes to ease your troubled mind.

I mean, not all problems, obviously, but if you've had a bad day it will probably at least calm you down a bit.

There's a pretty good argument to say that it has fallen off in recent years (in fact, lots of people have tried to pin down the exact moment at which it became ridiculous) but after nearly three decades and more than 600 episodes (as well as a movie, but the less said about that the better) you can forgive them for perhaps phoning it in a bit these days.

However, there is a side that you might never have seen unless you were particularly unlucky with your Sky Go pausing. Front facing Simpsons.

Yes, if you get it momentarily wrong you'll end up looking at one of the rare frames of animation where the characters are looking directly out of the screen at the viewer and it's bloody terrifying.

One Twitter user (@butchcoded) fell afoul of this evil fortune the other day and posted about it on his account. He said: "Is there anything more cursed than front facing Simpsons characters." And it's hard to disagree looking at the evidence.

He's not the first to have noticed this. Others have walked this dark path before. In fact, there is a whole account dedicated to it (because of course there is) called Front Facing Simpson (@frontsimpsons).

Since a few years back this brave account has been chronicling the many faces that we are not meant to see in everyone's favourite cartoon.

Moe Szyslak is pretty much the worst character for this, as you might imagine.

There have been a couple of photos of Marge Simpson that don't chill the blood quite as much, but if you look a bit deeper you can see that even the angelic Marge has her moments, though. Creepy stuff.

If you want to see more of them there is now a whole Tumblr page dedicated to it. Jjust be warned, once some of these images have been seen, they cannot be unseen. You may now also wonder how you've watched the show for years and never noticed that they haven't been facing forward.

My eyes! The goggles do nothing!
