I Stomped Around Manchester To Visit The Real Life Locations From ‘Fresh Meat’

The city's favourite students have left their mark all over town.

After a prolonged two year hiatus, the university comedy from the creators of Peep Show is back.

Jack Whitehall and co. are now in their last semester of Fresh Meat. Will they finally find some meaning in their pathetic student lives? Or are they doomed to university purgatory for the rest of their days?

I dunno. But seeing as I'll have to wait to find out their fate, I figured I'd tide myself over by scoping out the spots in Manchester that make up the fictional Manchester Medlock University in the show.

UNIVERSITY OF SALFORD

From season two onwards, quite a few exterior scenes were filmed outside the university's main Maxwell building.

The entire university has received a huge makeover in the past few years, as the facilities were utterly woeful (trust me, I know).

THE KING'S ARMS

Situated on Bloom Street just outside of Manchester City Centre, this old pub is where you see the cast drinking almost all of the time.

The boozer is owned by former The Beautiful South and The Housemartins singer Paul Heaton.

There are also two resident cats in the building, which is obviously great.

THE HOUSE

The large semi-detached house isn't actually found in any of the city's buzzing student quarters - although it's not too far from Fallowfield.

It's on Mayfield Road in Whalley Range. I swear I did visit it, but by the time I got there my phone had died.

So I returned to the King's Arms. To see the cat, mostly.
