It has been five long years since Eddie Murphy was at the front of our screens in a movie, and 20 since he became a household name in 'The Nutty Professor'. However, news broke earlier this month that he was finally going to be back on our screens and we couldn't wait to see what his new material featured.

He comes to our screens this September in Mr. Church, but there is a very different tone to this film compared to his previous roles as he gets serious.

Set in the 1970s, Murphy plays the title character, spending his time with a widowed mother, Marie, and ungrateful daughter, Charlie. The daughter slowly comes to terms with the frequent appearance of him while, unbeknownst to her, her mother is terminally ill. Murphy's character soon becomes the anchor as he keeps the family together and becomes a permanent member. This definitely is not your typical Eddie Murphy movie!

To be honest the few films he starred in that were released before Mr. Church were a bit shit to say the least.

Murphy even told Ellen DeGeneres in 2013 that it was vital to him to never make 'anything else that sucks ever again'.

So let's see how this one does.
