As promised, the first full-length trailer for Us has dropped - and it looks suitably nightmarish.

Starring Lupita Nyong'o and Winston Duke as two parents who take their kids on holiday to their beach house in northern California, Us is a forthcoming horror flick written, co-produced and directed by Jordan Peele - who made his directorial debut with 2017 banger Get Out.

The synopsis for the film, which is due to drop on 15 March next year, says: "A mother (Lupita Nyong'o) and a father (Winston Duke) take their children to their beach house expecting to unplug and unwind with friends (Elisabeth Moss and Tim Heidecker).

"But as night descends, their serenity turns to tension and chaos when some shocking visitors arrive uninvited."

The teaser trailer was shared on social media and YouTube on 20 December - around the same time stills from the film were released - telling us: "Join the Untethering. A new nightmare from the mind of Academy Award Winner Jordan Peele, writer/director of Get Out."

That was only six seconds long, but that proved to be plenty of time to get people nice and riled up ahead of the movie's full-length trailer - with many saying they were 'already terrified'.

One person tweeted: "The sound of those shears tho...."

Someone else commented:" I'm Shivering, about to pee myself, and excited."

A third wrote: "I'm both excited and anxious for this movie! The only problem about setting the bar high is well......the bar is pretty high. Can't wait!"

Another person said the promise of the full trailer was 'honestly the best Christmas gift ever' - and we concur, as it looks pretty epic.

Jordan Peele's already shown us he's worth our anticipation, having earned his stripes with 2017's debut, Get Out, which has an impressive 98 percent on Rotten Tomatoes and won an Oscar for Best Original Screenplay, having also been nominated in several other areas including the highly coveted accolade of Best Picture.

The film tells the story of Chris (played by Daniel Kaluuya) going to meet his girlfriend Rose's (Allison Williams) parents for the first time. It's awkward from the get-go, as he encounters some incredibly weird people in upstate New York, gradually exposing the racial tension at the heart of modern American society.

But for his follow-up, Us, Peele said he wanted to take a slightly different route within the horror genre, having introduced monsters called 'the Tethered'.

He told Entertainment Weekly: "For my second feature, I wanted to create a monster mythology. I wanted to do something that was more firmly in the horror genre but still held on to my love of movies that are twisted but fun."

Twisted but fun with monsters?! Sign. Me. Up.
