We've Been Given A Tiny Glimpse Into The Final Game Of Thrones Season

We've Been Given A Tiny Glimpse Into The Final Game Of Thrones Season

It's literally only a few seconds long but it certainly does spark some questions.

After waiting for what feels like an eternity, the final Game of Thrones season is nearly upon us. While there have been plenty of people giving their thoughts on what might happen, the Iron Throne is still seemingly very much up for grabs.

But finally (and I cannot stress that word 'finally' any harder), we have been given a tiny look at what's to come in April.

Okay, look, it wasn't much to go on but, hey, any details are welcome.

HBO released a lovely trailer of its biggest shows and Game of Thrones was no stranger in the mix. For roughly five seconds (and that's being generous), we get a snippet of the eighth and final season.

It shows Daenerys Targaryen, played by Emilia Clarke, approaching Jon Snow (Kit Harington) and Sansa Stark (Sophie Turner) in Winterfell, which we all know belongs to the Starks and has done for a casual 8,000 years.

But Sansa and Jon have clearly had a little chat in between seasons and agreed that they're going to mix things up with their ancestral home.

In the trailer Sansa is seen saying to Daenerys: "Winterfell is yours, your Grace."

Sansa has certainly learned how to hold her own after seven seasons of brutality, so we can imagine this would have been a pretty tough decision to make. We're wondering whether at this point in the show Jon knows that his new lover is in fact his auntie.

But it gives us an insight into what could conspire over six episodes: does this mean everyone is paying attention to the White Walkers or will Cersei stuff things up by taking down Danny?

Look, we just don't have those answers, mainly because HBO thinks we're only deserving of a trailer that lasts all of five seconds.

One thing we do know is that the writers and creators are hoping it will be the talk of Tinseltown for eternity. Actor Vladimir Furdik - who plays the Night King - has revealed there will be an epic battle sequence to open the new season.

"In the third part of the last season, there is a battle that the creators intend to be the biggest in television history," he told Hungarian website SorozatWiki.

"Almost the full episode will be about the battle, it will take about an hour."

Back in November, HBO released a teaser video for the forthcoming series on Twitter - along with news of the release month - showing a selection of shots from the previous seasons, saying: "Every battle. Every betrayal. Every risk. Every fight. Every sacrifice. Every death. All #ForTheThrone."

But, I mean, showing scenes we've already seen is hardly good enough. And fans are starting to get twitchy. Throw us a bone, HBO, Jesus.

There is a theory that the broadcasting juggernaut is waiting for the Superbowl to drop the big trailer, which wouldn't be stupid considering how many people would be tuned in for the big event.

But until then, we simply have "Winterfell is yours, your Grace," to go off.
