Who Wants To Be A Millionaire Jackpot Winner Leaves Empty Handed

We'd be fuming.

We reckon a lot of practice would have to be done if you're applying for one of the most popular quiz shows like Who Wants To Be A Millionaire. You have to be serious about it, go in to win and all that jazz.

So imagine how buzzing you would be if you were picked for a slot on the comeback show and, if that wasn't enough, you go on to smash all 15 questions and win the jackpot prize of £1 million ($1,376,680).

But then crash back down to Earth with a massive bump when you're sent packing without a penny of it. Oh, but you do get £80 for doing the trial run with new host Jeremy Clarkson, isn't that just insulting?

Well, that's exactly what happened to one LAD.

Bingo caller Alan Russell stunned ITV bosses by flying through all 15 questions on the trial run of the show which airs this Saturday with former Top Gear presenter Jezza. Did someone mention Top Gear? Awkward.

Alan, who went on the show as a 'stand in' to help Clarkson rehearse, was awarded £80 ($110) - but where's the extra £999,920 ($1,376,569)?

And apparently Alan was alright with his measly payout, he just seemed happy to be sat on the 'iconic' chair. If you've sat on one chair you've sat on them all.

A source told The Sun: "Alan is a quiz buff and punters at the bingo hall are always saying he should apply.

"His partner works on Millionaire so when she told him that they needed stand-ins to help Jeremy rehearse he jumped at the chance. It's a real shame he went home with £80 and not the full prize."

The show will be back on our screens this Saturday to mark the 20th anniversary. Cancel your plans quick.

Alan said: "I loved sitting in the iconic chair. And to answer all questions correctly. Wow.

"Maybe I should apply to play properly and see how far I get."

According to The Sun, he also talked cars with Clarkson but admitted: "I know nothing about them.

"I said I own a purple one and he replied his was grey. It wouldn't have been the best episode of Top Gear!"

At least it wasn't only us that mentioned it.

Alan would have been the sixth jackpot winner. Just to rub that salt in those wounds a little bit more.
