Will Smith's Rendition Of Prince Ali In Aladdin Has Been Released

It is one of the most iconic Disney movies of all time, but in just a few days time fans will get to see the live-action rework of childhood classic, Aladdin.

And in anticipation of its release, the studio shared a snippet from the film, showing the genie - this time played by Will Smith - performing 'Prince Ali'.

However, the short clip has divided fans - with some not wanting to let go of the original.

One upset fan said: "No.... I'm not much of a movie person, I've barely seen any, but I'm so sick of these live action Disney remakes. I refuse to see just one. None of them can hold a candle to the original animated ones. This looks just so lifeless."

While another paid tribute to Robin Williams, who played the magical genie in the 1992 animation.

They wrote: "They released the live action Prince Ali from Aladdin. I had low expectations but I didn't expect to get all teary eyed and spend it missing Robin Williams so much. This just reminds me of what an astounding talent Robin was. I think they should have made this a rap song instead."

Not everyone was too put off, however, and some said it made them more excited to see the new take on the classic.

One person said: "NEWS FLASH Will Smith's Prince Ali version is not as flashy because this is a live-action, NOT a cartoon. Give Will's Genie a chance! Geesh."

While another added: "Maybe this segment will work better within the context of the film. Having only the cartoon as a reference point though its just a slower paced version with less visual flair and of course neither of those qualities are ideal."

The film is directed by Guy Ritchie - bit of a departure from Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels and Snatch, don'cha think? Mena Massoud stars as Aladdin and Naomi Scott will play the role of Princess Jasmine.

This film will arrive on the silver screen among a slew of remakes that are currently in the works.

Following on from 2017's Beauty and the Beast, starring Emma Watson and Dan Stevens, a live action version of everyone's favourite childhood classic The Lion King will hit the big screen this July.

Aladdin will hit cinemas on 22 May.
