Never underestimate the unadulterated power of the Rick and Morty fanbase.

Yeah, we can be really annoying at times. For the last 18 months, all the creators (Dan Harmon and Justin Roiland) have seen whenever they've posted ANYTHING to social media is: 'When's season three coming out?!', 'Why are you out drinking?! You should be writing season three!' and 'BASTARDS, GIVE US SEASON THREE NOOOOOOOWWWWWW'.

It all comes from a good place; it's just because we love the show so much.

We may have redeemed ourselves marginally with the latest bit of solidarity with the writers.

If you've seen the first episode of season three (it aired three days ago, what have you been doing if you haven't watched it yet?) you'll know that a running theme is Rick's love of the discontinued McDonald's Szechuan sauce. It was released to promote the Disney movie Mulan back in the late '90s and then disappeared forever.

At the end of the episode, Rick says: "I just took over the family, Morty, and if you tell your mom or sister I said any of this, I'll deny it. And they'll take my side because I'm a hero, Morty. Now you're gonna do whatever I say. FOREVER, And I'll go out and find some more of that Mulan Szechuan teriyaki dipping sauce, Morty. Because this is what this is all about, Morty."

He continues: "That's my one arm man, Morty. I'm not driven by avenging my dead family, Morty. That was fake. I'm driven by finding that McNugget sauce. I want that Mulan dipping sauce, Morty, that's my series arc. If it takes nine seasons, I want my dipping sauce Szechuan sauce. That's what's gonna take us all the way to the end. Season nine, nine more seasons until I get that dipping Szechuan sauce.

"97 MORE YEARS, I WANT THAT DIPPING SAUCE NOW, MORTY."

This spawned an uproar from the R&M fanbase who took to harassing McDonald's to bring back the sauce for their hero. And you know what? It might have worked.

As you can see, the official Rick and Morty account Tweeted Maccies and it responded favourably...

Then, a fan set up a change.org petition (which has garnered an impressive 23,000 signatures)...

They've also asked a McDonald's chef directly.

Mike Haracz replied to a fan...

I wish he'd replied: "Oooooh, yeah, can do!" but we don't get everything we want in life.

It's kind of worked out perfectly as a live-action remake of Mulan is set to hit cinemas in November 2018. It's almost like it was planned.
