If you've ever played any of the many Tony Hawk-endorsed skateboarding video games over the years, then this piece of news will make your jaw drop - two lovers of the Tony Hawk's Underground game scored one million points on a single grind. Yes, seriously:
If that sounds like gobbledygook to you, a grind just means that you slide your trucks (the section of the skateboard with wheels) along a surface.

In real life you can maybe do it for a few seconds. In the video games, you can do it for significantly longer - if you're good enough - by using the analog sticks on the controller to, well, control your balance as you grind.
The longer you grind in the game, the more points you get, and you can increase those by using trick multipliers to get more points more quickly.
So kudos to these two sk8r bois for working together to make it past the million mark. What's really cool about the video though is that it shows you all the times they fell short first. Usually, you only see someone throwing a basketball into a hoop from a mile away - you don't see the years of practice and all the times they missed before the ball went through the hoop.
In the Tony Hawk games, it becomes harder to control the grind balance meter as time progresses, because - just like in real life - it gets harder to balance the further you progress on a grind.
That's where the second pair of hands came in - one of them controlled the analogue stick to control the balance meter while the other person pressed alternating buttons to increase the score multiplier, which made the whole thing a lot easier. Well, actually, it made the whole thing possible.
Of course, the real challenge now is for a solo player to snag 1,000,000 on a single grind. And you can bet that in a cellar somewhere in the world, someone is trying to do just that. Our advice? Just get a friend to help you. It'll be much more fun and much less frustrating that way.
