Call Of Duty 'Leak' Suggests A 200-Player Battle Royale Mode Is Coming To Modern Warfare
| Last updated
Since before the new Modern Warfare was even released, dataminers (clever types who can code) have been searching for more information about what might be to come - and it seems they've struck gold.
Rumours have been circulating for a while that the reboot would be getting a battle royale mode, with some saying it would be released as a free-to-play standalone version.
Some 'leaks' suggest Activision will offer the free mode to encourage those who aren't sure if they are in to it to play. So certain are they that players would enjoy it (it is apparently pretty addictive) - they'd then buy the full version.
Gamers were shocked Activision released Modern Warfare without the battle royale feature that basically made Call of Duty: Black Ops the success that it was - but it looks like it'll be back after all.
Although Infinity Ward and Activision have been pretty quiet on the topic, both of them have pretty much said they were focusing on 'more traditional' multiplayer modes - but it was never straight up dismissed.
Call of Duty leaker Senscallo recently posted on reddit about the planned 200-player battle royale update for the shooter, and there's some interesting stuff here.
The leak goes into detail about what Modern Warfare's new mode may offer - including solo, duos, four-player and public and private matches.
It sounds like there will also be a respawn system where players can bring fallen teammates back to life via respawn tokens. Players who have been given respawn tokens will be taken to a Gulag, where they will have to fight in 1v1 matches to rejoin the battle.
There's also suggestions that every so often there might be a jailbreak that would kick all the players in the Gulag back into the match.
You can check out what appears to be the leaked map below. Yes, it is absolutely massive - way bigger than the map featured in Black Ops 4's battle royale mode, too, by the looks of it.
As always, there's no saying for certain that everything in the Reddit post is legit until Activision or Infinity Ward confirm it.
The leak seems to fit in with everything we've heard so far though - and it's also unlikely that Activision would miss the opportunity to include a battle royale mode in what is its most popular CoD game for ages.
