The release date for the new version of the cult classic Destroy All Humans! has been revealed and fans don't have too long to wait as it lands on 28 July.

THQ Nordic announced the news with a brand-new trailer earlier today, which shows off the flashy new visuals.

Fans of the original 2005 game will still be pleased it's not a million miles away from the PS2 version, it's just had a bit of a makeover in the graphics department.

For anyone who missed out on the magic of the game first time around, it's a third-person open world action game centred on Crypto - a little alien who might look cute, but who is just here to 'Destroy All Humans' and tears around 1950s Earth killing anyone he can get his ray gun on.

The original Destroy All Humans! is a delightfully gross little game, giving players the chance to rip out the brains of humans, zap them or otherwise maim and kill.

The game was such a hit that it spawned a few sequels and has even been remastered and upscaled to 1080p for the PS4, but this brand-new remake offers much slicker game play as well as new features such as 'the restored, much-rumoured, never before seen: Lost Mission of Area 42'.

Naturally, fans of the original are bloody made up that the remake is just a few months from release with one gamer posting: "I don't think I've ever pre-ordered something so fast after receiving a notification."

A second wrote: "Finally a date, oooh I'm so excited to play this gem of a game again!"

While a third chipped in: "I just started playing this again on PS2 while in lockdown! I'm totally down for a remake of a classic!"

The remake is going to be available on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC - so whichever your preferred platform you'll be able to enjoy it.

You can pre-order now, but the game does have differing prices depending on your platform. The PC version pre-order will cost you £24.99 ($29.99) whereas for Xbox One or PS4 you'll be spending £34.99 ($39.99).

However, if you really want to push the boat out you can get the Crypto-137 Edition, which will set you back £349.99 ($399.99) and comes with a bunch of stuff including all in-game skins, a Crypto figurine, backpack and a key chain presented in a fancy box.
