It's been a few years since Gear of War 3. Since then we've had Gears of War: Judgment which was met with mixed reactions.
Well now, the series will be returning to the main story arc, because Gears of War 4 is on its way and we will be getting it later this year.
Microsoft made the announcement on their blog while EW shared the windswept artwork that features the game's core squad of JD, Kait and Del. IGN mentioned there'll be a cameo from Fenix too. Still, some will no doubt be a little disappointed the bandana-wearing meat bag isn't returning in a main role.

We know the game is set 25 years after the original trilogy and JD is Fenix's son, so we can expect Fenix to turn up in a Rocky kind of way, being all wise and hard and stuff.
Even better, from April 18th, those that played Gears of War: Ultimate Edition will be able to play a beta of Gears 4's multiplayer, with all Xbox Live Gold members able to join in from April 25. The beta runs until the start of May.
The game will be released on October 11th as an Xbox One exclusive.
