Good news Halo fans - you will soon be able to use weaponry from the game in the real world.

Well, sort of. That's because the fellas down the Hasbro fun factory are developing a new range of Nerf blasters inspired by the sci-fi series.

Being Nerf guns, they won't have the devastating effects they have in the game, which is probably for the best given you'll probably use them to ambush your unsuspecting partner at home.

The toy company is launching three different blasters, with the Halo MA40 Blaster at the top of the range. It takes its inspiration from the upcoming Halo Infinite game and it features a clip which holds 10 darts.

The weapon will set you back $50 (£38.46), according to Gamespot, which while expensive, probably isn't too great a price to pay for the pleasure of shooting your unsuspecting partner 10 times in quick succession with foam darts.

For those of you who are content to shoot your other half one dart at a time, then there are two different shooters to choose from. The SPNKR is based on the United Nation Space Command weapon of the same name and comes with two darts.

Alternatively, you could go for the Covenant's Needler, which also fires one shot and comes with two darts. Both will be priced at $10 (£7.69), so it really just comes down to a matter of preference.

The weapons will be made available in stores across the US and the UK on 1 October, and will then be rolled out across other markets in the months that follow.

Anyone else reckon this one resembles a weird deep sea fish?

In the meantime, you can entertain yourself by playing Halo on your iPhone - all you need is the new Xbox app.

Currently the app - which is called Project xCloud - is in public testing mode, meaning you just need to register to make the most of the preview before the service is fully rolled out.

Early tests of the new service began on Android back in October, but last week it was opened up to iOS users, after a version was sent out to gamers who had already registered as xCloudtesters.

You can sign up to be an xCloud tester completely free, and if you're planning to use your iPhone, simply select 'iOS' when registering.

While Android users can have their pick of more than 50 games, currently iOS users have just one game to check out, Halo: The Master Chief Collection, as Microsoft fine-tunes its app policy with Apple.

The Project xCloud app lets users play games anywhere, at any time. All you have to do is plug your mobile phone into an Xbox One controller and then you're set to go.
