Prince's Video Game From 1994 Was Absolutely Bonkers, Obviously

Can we get a copy?

Prince was a master of his art, and not just musically. The dude managed to have both a number one album and a number one film out at the same time.

There are very few, if any artists, who could do that today. Yes, 1984 was a very different time but it's still a staggering achievement.

What you might not be aware of is that Prince ventured into the video game world in 1994 with this truly wacky interactive experience. Prinsteractive, if you will.

Prince Interactive was virtually a carbon copy of a once popular game called Myst. If you're not familiar with it, I wouldn't worry, games that are two decades old are rarely worth revisiting, except Sonic The Hedgehog 2.

Prince Interactive revolved around walking around Paisley Park, or at least a weird dream sequence-esque reimagining of the infamous estate.

Obviously, this being a Prince game, the experience is weird and wonderful right from the start.

The purpose of the game is to solve puzzles, and eventually fill out the fragments of the Prince symbol. However, that is far from being clear, you sort of just have to fumble about until you figure it out for yourself.

The CD-ROM contained the game, as well as a handful of Prince songs, which could surely only be played in woeful, blippy '90s low-bit fuzz. Two of those tracks were previously unreleased, 'Interactive' and 'Endorphin Machine,' Paste Magazine reported.

But the best thing about the whole experience is that you'd get a temporary tattoo of the love symbol inside every copy of the game.

According to Mashable, the whole thing is extremely disjointed and one of their writers tried to play through the experience but could make no sense of any of it.

"Some more poking around leads me to a winding stairway that ends in golden double doors with a scantily clad woman embossed on each one. As I approach, the two women come to life, one at a time, asking me to "touch" them," Adam Rosenberg wrote.

"My first time out, I touch the wrong one and end up back downstairs."

So there you go, it's really fucking weird, undoubtedly sexual and and there's purple funk everywhere you look. Oh and the whole thing is pretty much a mystery, just like the man himself was.
